"There are some fish that cannot be caught. It's not that they are faster or stronger than other fish, they're just touched by something extra."

    THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"In the heartwarming film Big Fish, director Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Scissor hands) brings his inimitable imagination on a journey that delves deep into a fabled relationship between a father and his son.

Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) has always been a teller of tall-tales about his oversized life as a young man (Ewan McGregor), when his wanderlust led him on an unlikely journey from a small-town in Alabama, around the world, and back again. His mythic exploits dart from the delightful to the delirious as he weaves epic tales about giants, blizzards, a witch and conjoined-twin lounge singers. With his larger-than-life stories, Bloom charms almost everyone he encounters except for his estranged son Will (Billy Crudup). When his mother Sandra (Jessica Lange) tries to reunite them, Will must learn how to separate fact from fiction as he comes to terms with his father's great feats and great failings. "

    MY APPRAISAL

    MOST HEARTWARMING & EXQUISITE ESCAPADE.

Nothing is more astonishing than exquisite stories of incredible adventures. Well, we all heard them already. Tales about fairies, witches always delighted me since I was a little girl and I suspect that I'm not the only one.

The eccentric and also my all-time favourite director Tim Burton striked gold by visualizing captivating pictures and remarkably spelled magic for this Daniel Wallace's novel adaptation. And I was pleasantly surprised that Big Fish is as enchanting and cute as it appears so. With impressive images, brilliant performances, and a heart-warming ending that actually involves me sentimentally, I give a sincere applause for Burton for making me the kind of movie that I may not have appreciated in another director's hands.

The appeal of this Big Fish movie is the captivating journey of Edward Bloom and how Burton crafted a dreamlike world exactly like every kids' imagination. Ewan McGregor and Helena Bonham Carter both delivered outstanding performances.

At its core, this is a movie about enchantment and bond. Though it seems like a long film, but it is the depth of storytelling that makes it seem like that, and at the end I felt truly connected to the emotional heart of the story.

Big Fish is delightfully crafted and very refreshing. After the captivating Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton strikes another with this genuinely warm tale of an adventure as big as life itself.

    BURTON'S MASTERPIECE, INDEED.

"Has it ever occurred to you that maybe you're not too big? That maybe this place is just too small?"
    - Edward Bloom -

Sandra Templeton: "You don't even know me."

Young Ed Bloom: "I have the rest of my life to find out."

Norther Winslow: I've been working on this poem for 12 years.
    Young Ed Bloom: Really?
Norther Winslow: There's a lot of expectation. I don't wanna disappoint my fans.
    Young Ed Bloom: May I?
Young Ed Bloom: [Edward reeds the poem on the notebook ] The grass so green Skies so blue. Spectre is really great!
Young Ed Bloom: It's only three lines long.
Norther Winslow: This is why you should never show a work in progress.

Lets you get inside the mind of Tim Burton, and the fun imaginative adventures of Edward Bloom told to his son. Really is as big as life itself.

Really really was compelled with this film. Had alot of qualities to it, was very magical.

Such whimsical fantasy tales he tells, and no one quite believes whether they are real or not. Or figments of imagination. Its conclusion is a tearful one yet happy.

Ewan Mcgregor as the younger Ed Bloom is well cast in his charismatic experiences and interesting characters he comes across.
Helena Botham Carter i found very good in this in her multible roles as young and older Jenny and The Witch, extremely versatile actress.
Albert Finney as the older Ed Bloom excellent dry and crisp portrayal and his son Will Bloom (played by Billy Crudup) also fantastic.
Steve Buscemi: Norther Winslow. Loved the scene with him and Ed Bloom in the bank.

I love the scene where the Japanese Soldiers are doing some form of Karate or martial arts and Ewan puts on his night vision goggles, turns off the light and you hear him punching them. Absolutely original, funny stuff.

Also the circus part with its motley crew (and Danny devito) was intriguing. All shapes and sizes and very surreal.

Acceptance of a father and a bond between a son who didn't believe, is heart felt and tear-inducing.

I loved this movie. It was so odd and different, but in a good way. It kept me interested all the way through.

It was a good movie, so touching and emotive, with its funny moments and some drama too. Afilm so different Tim Burton used to make, but at the same time just the type of films he likes, with a lot of fantasy, very colorful but dark at some moments, a photography so great and a cast so wonderful with such solid and delightful performances

Certainly a film with a strong message. Everything one does has an effect on life.

Just did not appreciate one scene where Edward brought disgrace to his mom. Could have been left out.

    To Miakeane,
Miley was the little girl that said: Don't cuss, there's a lady present. This was her first movie.

The other girl, the blond in Spectre was played by Hailey Anne Nelson. She was Young Jenny.

    GREAT film!
