this is a solid flick. ive become a bit numb to sports movies over the years because of their predictable formulas, and although this followed many of those, i enjoyed it. it was shot well and entertained.
Very good... I was saddened the majority of the movie because no one believed in him until the end and such but... It was just one of those classic football movies that follow the same line, so it wasn't too great but there were great, sometimes heartbreaking performances that push it over the "standard football movie" category.
you really feel for vince, or at least i did, because of his whole situation! he of course was tough, and couragous to stick out all of those injuries!!! i sure would never be able to do all those moves even if i didnt have a broken (or sprained, im not sure) back!!
when he ran for what seemed like days! it made me feel like running! my second favorited character besides vince was the coach. he was what i think of as the perfect coach. he had the right balance of competition and heart. and greg kinnear was great for the role of the coach.
even though i dont know how to play football and dont exactly understand it, this movie made me want to cheer for him!! which for me is slightly unusual because im not exactly one of htose team spirit type of person
This movie felt so alive and so real. You find yourself smiling in parts and concerned in others. It was a nice movie to watch really, nothing too 'anything' just right smack bang inbetween. It's also nice to watch our main character; Vince learn, grow and over come the things he was going through, to see him let go of it all and really believe in himself. "You'll never be somebody". Vince will prove them wrong.
And who better to play it than Mark Wahlberg :D. As John Moore, director of 'Max Payne' said "Mark has unlimited potential" - he likes to play different genres and he WORKS each one, whether or not we like him more in a certain one. He does give each one a great performance :).
Scenes that stick out are the football in the rain and running scenes with the slow motion football stuff which was quite cool :). I really enjoyed it all :)
AND All I could say in the back of my mind while watching this film was "Come on Mark!. Do it! Go! Go!" And I'm not even a sport person :P
Outstanding movie. Great storyline based on the true story of Vince Papale who tried out for the Eagles at 30 years old and made the team. I can watch again so the replay value is high.
movie was freakin awesome...great movie...highly recommend it...whether you like sports movies or not...good stuff
I've seen almost every sports underdog movie around, and IMO, Invincible ranks with the best.
