You may shoot me for saying that this movie has more meaning and purpose than most of Serbian contemporary movies.
As it is the first Serbian feature film, I'd say it was a rather decent movie to start with. It's just some old documentary about a Serbian hero Karadjordje who led people to the First Serbian Uprising, thus finally winning the freedom after almost five centuries under the Ottoman rule. It's a story about "the Father of Serbia".
Some of the scenes surely seem ridiculous from today's point of view, but when you think about the fact it was filmed in 1911, it's quite amazing for that time, isn't it.
If nothing else, it offers a different perspective on Serbian culture and history, and it represents an important influence on the further development of movie-making in our country.
