‘The Dark Knight’ Debate: Who Should Be The Villain In ‘Batman 3′?

Posted by SexiVixxEN 43 days ago
“The Dark Knight” is still three days away from showing the world what MTV staffers lucky enough to see the film early already know, that Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart have created terrifying, complex new versions of The Joker and Two-Face that will surely stand the test of time.

But riddle us this, riddle us that, just what’s next for the Big, Bad Bat?

Well, the Riddler, of course, if you believe Gary Oldman. Or Catwoman if you listen to Nester Carbonell. Or…well, we’ll just let you check out what Jennifer Vineyard got Christian Bale, Eckhart, David Goyer, and the rest of the cast and crew to cough up about who they think should be the villain in “Batman 3” here.

One thing everyone agrees on, of course, is that whoever they choose will have to be reinvented to go along with Nolan’s more realistic tone. Right?

“I would go in the exact opposite direction which is why I would do Poison Ivy and Catwoman both,” comic legend Jeph Loeb told MTV News on who he would want to see interpreted in a possible “Batman 3.”“What I love about Selina Kyle and Catwoman is that she sees Batman as a ball of yarn she gets to play around with. Poison Ivy, meanwhile, is a woman who has absolutely no doubt in her mind that there isn’t a man or a woman who she cannot control. You’d have a really interesting dichotomy.”

Poison Ivy, in particular, of course, is seen by many as a particularly difficult character to translate into the real world, what with her power over plants and other nonsense. But what if you just took the most basic premise, that of an eco-terrorist? A villain who uses plant toxins (realistic), perhaps targeting billionaire industrialist (and habitual polluter) Bruce Wayne? (even more realistic!)

Admit it would be awesome, said Loeb.

“I think that’s one of the important lessons of how to tell a Batman story. You have to start grounding it and moving it into that world of the fantastic,” Loeb insisted. “I see Poison Ivy as a woman who you have to do exactly what Heath Ledger did to Jack Nicholson. You need to burn out the Uma Thurman of it all. I would cast Angelina Jolie or Gwyneth Paltrow and I would have so much fun with it!”

What do you think? Read the suggestions from “The Dark Knight” folk again and then let us know: Are you a Goyer man who thinks Catwoman is the perfect foil? Or do you side with Loeb and wish for Poison Ivy? The Riddler, The Penguin, someone else? Let us know who SHOULD be the villain in “Batman 3” below!

The Riddler (played by Hugo Weaving) that would be cool, or maybe Freeze (played by Ben Kingsley)

The Riddler could be a good idea if they handled him correclty, like some sort of serial killer that leaves riddles to save the victim or who the next victim is, I don't know.
But if I see Robin, Batgirl, Poison Ivy and/or Catwoman (to a lesser degree), I think I will be terribly dissapointed.

I have come to the conclusion that one of the villians has to be a female and a love interest. So I have it down to catwoman and Talia Als Ghul. The woman will not be the main villian though. Catwoman could help to clear batmans name by taking the wrap. Talia would tie back into the first film I don't don't think she'd let the man who "killed" her father go. However, I think that the main villian will be a man. I think that they will make it someone like Reaper, Clayface, or Cluemaster, If they do cluemaster I think that the riddler should also have a role. Having them duke it out for who's smarter. But I like the Idea of clayface but only if it can be done realistically. no-one wants to see a great big bulg of clay in world-nolan it would cheese the whole world up.

if there going to make a third batman I HOPE!!! they should cast some other people for the riddler catwoman or poison ivy. i mean look at heath ledger i would have never thought they would have cast him because it's so diffrent from his other roles but he did a fantastic job and it was an amazing movie!!!they should surprise us just like THE DARK KNIGHT did it was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read that Bale dosn't want Robin as his sidekick cause he just mention that if his in, he quits. Maybe is just rumors, cause people love to mess up stuffs this days. I wish Robin was in (I wish Chris Evans took that role). I wish too that Scarecrow was more in that film, cause he got so little time on DARK KNIGHT. And of course, Poison Ivy (Angelina), not bad at all, I guess. And if the Riddle could be next, I wish Jim Carey repeats it, he was so good on that character!Well, I respect ur opinion so u respect mine. PEACE OUT!!!

Isn't is so obvious? When Bruce asks Fox how his new suit will hold up against dogs, his only response? "It will do fine against a cat."

Catwoman is the next villian hands down.

not to mention the need for a new love interest for bruce...

While I realize that Goyer has denounced Catwoman as a villian. In the Dark Night saga she isn't really a villian. She is a prostitute turned vigilante/ Catburgular. Plus the fact the something happened in the dark knight (trying not to spoil it for the 5 who haven't seen the movie) almost requires an additional female. And of course Lucious Fox's comment on how the suit should do fine against cats. Who the main villian should be I'll let the writers make that choice.
