'Batman' scribe unsure over third movie Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other The Dark Knight co-writer David Goyer has admitted that the prospect of making another Batman movie is "scary". Goyer confirmed that he would only get involved in a new Batman project if he felt confident that 2005's Batman Begins and its sequel could be topped. "I think that’s the scariest thing - to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?" Goyer asked in an interview with MTV News. "Doing it a third time would be a big proposition." While he revealed that a theme and villain have already been discussed for a third movie, Goyer warned that there is no guarantee the plans will go any further. He said: "I do think, though, that if there's not a third film - these two movies stand on their own. I think it could go either way."

New Yes Man Teaser Trailer Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Yahoo! Movies has just posted the brand new teaser trailer for the upcoming Jim Carrey comedy, Yes Man, which will be released in theaters on December 19. Click below for your first glimpse at this new comedy. Based on a memoir by British author Danny Wallace the studio picked up in April 2005, the story centers on a man who decides to change his life by saying yes to absolutely everything that comes his way. Saying yes leads him on a series of unexpected comedic adventures that turn his whole life upside-down. Jim Carrey stars as Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything...and anything. At first, unleashing the power of yes transforms Carl's life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks.
Miley Cyrus to strip on screen Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Miley Cyrus, 15, is reportedly set to bare all in a new movie. The 'Hannah Montana' star - who caused controversy when she posed 'topless' for the cover of Vanity Fair magazine earlier this year - is said to be keen to be cast as the lead character in 'Undiscovered Gyrl', which is based on Allison Burnett's new novel. According to website MSNBC, the movie will almost definitely include nude scenes. A source said: "It is still early days, but Miley is really interested in the film, which follows the story of a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity. If she does get the part, you will be seeing a lot more of her than you did in the Vanity Fair photos - there would definitely be nude scenes." Meanwhile, Miley has revealed talented Disney actresses Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have no chance of being "the next Miley" because there is only one. She said: "People are looking up to what I do. But, I don't think there could be a next Miley. I think they should be the next Selena, Demi. Make their own way." The actress - the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus - also said she wanted her new album 'Breakout' to feature a more adult sound. She added to US TV show 'Extra': "I wanted to embrace my older audience a little more, kind of taking shackles off and doing the music I wanted to do. There are the things I want to say to the world. I just want this to be a CD that you can let loose to and dance to and kind of forget all the crazy stuff!"
Friday The 13th Remake: New Photos Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other More photos of Jason Voorhees in Platinum Dunes’s Friday the 13th remake have surfaced, this time showing close-ups of the masked camp killer. There are minor quibbles in the horror community about this new Jason’s choice of clothing (too hip?) and his “‘roided appearance.” What do you guys think? Should they send Jason back into outer space for a makeover? While I preferred the jump suit and mongoloid baldness of old, give Jason time to perfect his ugliness. It’s only fair.
Cinematical Seven: Actors Who Could Play Siblings, etc. Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Occasionally Hollywood cobbles together random members of the A-list to play family members on film, even if their genes obviously come from opposite ends of the earth. If the actors are good enough or if the chemistry is there, sometimes the combo can work, such as Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman as brothers in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead or Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor in Cassandra's Dream. Other times, it stretches credibility, such as Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman in The Darjeeling Limited. My all-time favorite oddball casting is in Sidney Lumet's Family Business (1989), with Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick playing grandfather, father and son. (Huh?) At the same time, there are actor combos out there who just scream to be paired up in a family capacity. Remember Julia Roberts and Kyra Sedgwick in Something to Talk About? Well, neither do I, but that pairing was perfect. Here are a few others that could work: 1. Helen Hunt & Leelee Sobieski They're so similar it's spooky, from their hair and foreheads, right down to the tonal quality of their voices. Anybody check the hospital records for mixed-up babies? (Helen is about 20 years older.) Not too long ago, both careers hit a peak: Helen won an Oscar while Leelee was working with Stanley Kubrick and playing Joan of Arc on TV. Now they're both in decline. For some reason, whenever Helen's name comes up, I hear "I HATE Helen Hunt!" And Leelee's last movie was for Uwe Boll. Now would be the perfect time for these two to team up in a mother-daughter drama. If they cooked up something along the lines of Terms of Endearment, with a good, solid writer and/or director, it could be interesting. Or better yet, how about something really strange and kooky with Spike Jonze or Harmony Korine? (Note: apparently the two once went head-to-head on "Celebrity Death Match.")2. Steve Martin & Dennis Quaid Something about their diamond-shaped smiles and the angular way they speak and laugh has always struck me as vaguely similar. To me, they look more alike than Dennis and his actual brother Randy Quaid. Check out Roxanne and Innerspace (both 1987) back to back and you'll see teensy little moments here and there that kind of click -- especially their smiles, and the subsequent eye-crinkle. (Steve is the big brother, nine years older than Dennis.) 3. Christian Bale & Samantha Morton I don't mean to harp on that old "Bad British teeth" thing, but both Christian and Samantha have front teeth that seem to curve slightly upward in the center, so that their pearly whites tend to disappear under their top lips when they speak. As a result, both speak with ever-so-vague sibilant 'S'es -- Christian more so than Samantha. (It's fairly inconvenient trait for a Bruce Wayne trying to maintain his secret identity.) But aside from that, they both have dark, intense eyes and they certainly both project a similar, singularly dedicated mood onscreen. (Christian is the big brother, three years older than Samantha.)
Poll: Which Was Bigger -- Nolan's 'Dark Knight' or Burton's 'Batman'? Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other So last night I was twiddling my thumbs, watching a re-run of Design Star (shut up) and I suddenly remembered that our friends from Slashfilm had Kevin Smith as a guest on their podcast. Since we're in no way above pimping out something pretty awesome on another site, I'll let you know now that I truly enjoyed listening to Smith talk about how much he loved The Dark Knight -- and, essentially, just hearing these guys all geek out over the flick. (I think they just posted the full podcast for those of you who missed it.) So anyway, at one point they were talking about the intense marketing for The Dark Knight, and how the hype had reached a ridiculous level just prior to the flick arriving in theaters. But then Smith brought up the point that the hype surrounding The Dark Knight was not even close to the hype surrounding Tim Burton's Batman back in 1989. I was still kinda young (12), but I do remember Batman being the first giant summer movie. And Kevin made a good point in that with The Dark Knight, most of the buzz was online and other folks didn't really know much about it until we got closer to release -- whereas Burton's Batman was everywhere. Of the things I remember, the Bat symbol was on everything -- I vaguely recall walking through the mall in Staten Island and seeing it on walls, on stands and, at one point, in cardboard box form all piled up in the center of the Macy's wing. The hype was out of control for that flick. So, is Kevin Smith correct in saying the hype for Burton's Batman far exceeded the hype leading up to The Dark Knight?
M. Night Says: What I Really Want to Do is Produce Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Fans of the world's most famous writer-director based in Philadelphia need not fear. Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is not abandoning his creative work as a writer and director in favor of restricting himself to production duties. He has, however, formed a new partnership to produce one thriller per year for three years, according to Variety. M. Night "typically generates more movie ideas than he can execute." The terms of his deal with Media Rights Capital (MRC) mean that M. Night will "create the stories and ideas for the films and pick the writers and directors; MRC will finance." This won't affect his next directorial project, The Last Airbender, which is still set for release by Paramount in 2010. My first thought was that M. Night is following in the footsteps of Steven Spielberg. You might remember that Spielberg created the TV series Amazing Stories in part because he had so many story ideas that he couldn't do himself. He ended up writing or developing 29 stories (out of 45 episodes). Interestingly, Eric Kohn asked M. Night in an interview last month if it wouldn't be easier for him to "go the independent route." Even though the filmmaker said he's "never had an issue with studios," this sounds like a big step in the independent direction. And here's a quote that might warm the heart of anyone, including myself, who has been cool about his recent work: "Working with the next wave of innovative filmmakers will teach me many things that I can bring to my own writing/directing and give my stories the opportunity to be brought to the screen in a stunning way."
Violet Is Happy to Cover Jen's Not-So-Secret Bump Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Jennifer Garner didn't use a gift bag or a Jimmy Kimmel sweatshirt to hide her maybe baby bump today, instead opting for a much cuter, dimpled cover up — Violet — before showing it off at the park. As usual Violet looked precious with her big grin and yellow flower in her hair for their girls' afternoon out. While we're still waiting for confirmation of a fourth Garner-Affleck from someone other than Jen's costar, we can't help but smile too at how fun and playful this bump watch has become.

Keira's wig a pain in the neck Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other KEIRA Knightley’s wig in her new 18th century flick The Duchess was so heavy she had to have a resting post specially made for her to lean on in between takes. Sexy Keira plays scandalous aristocrat Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, opposite RALPH FIENNES in the forthcoming movie. She had to don a sky-high Marie Antoinette-style wig for several key scenes. And co-star HAYLEY ATWELL, who shot to fame on TV’s The Line Of Beauty, revealed that Keira found the wig too heavy for her delicate head and neck. Hayley, in LA to promote her new movie Brideshead Revisited, said: “I loved filming The Duchess. Keira has a great sense of humour – she’s really funny. “She had to wear this huge wig that was so heavy. They made her a special board that she could lean her shoulders and head against in between takes so she didn’t topple over or get neck ache! It was funny.”
John’s new love is half his age Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other MONTY Python legend John Cleese has fallen for a pretty blonde half his age. The 68-year-old actor whisked marketing executive Veronica Smiley, 34, off on a romantic holiday to Italy’s Great Lakes. But Cleese is worried their relationship might suffer because he lives in London – and she lives thousands of miles away in Chicago. He said: “Veronica’s incredibly bright. “I never thought I would be interested in somebody in marketing but she is so acute. “I am not sure when we’ll be seeing each other again. Unfortunately we are living very apart.” The Life of Brian funnyman is currently divorcing third wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger. They split in January following 16 years of marriage. Veronica said: “At the moment it is a very close, very warm friendship. “John’s very stimulating and extremely funny and charming. “I’m American and had never heard of Monty Python or Fawlty Towers, although I had seen A Fish Called Wanda.” Hollywood star Cleese recently sold his California ranch for a reputed £8million.
Ew wants to stay in London? Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other EWAN McGREGOR has turned his back on Britain and moved to LA for the next two years with wife Eve and kids Clara Mathilde, Esther Rose and Jamiyan. The Star Wars actor — who once vowed he’d never leave the north London home he has lived in for ten years — held a lavish leaving do last weekend. He’s currently in New Orleans filming comedy I Love You Phillip Morris alongside JIM CARREY.
Malfoy magics up a hot date Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other PLAYING the bad guy doesn’t mean you can’t get the girl, as TOM FELTON proved at the Dark Knight premiere last niight. The 20-year-old actor, better know as Harry Potter’s evil enemy Draco Malfoy, hit the red carpet in London’s Leicester Square with a stunning brunette. The mystery babe made a wizard impression in her ultra short skirt and high heels. And I’m sure the happy couple had a magical night.
McKellen confirms 'Hobbit' involvement657 Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Sir Ian McKellen has confirmed that he will be starring as Gandalf in the forthcoming film adaptation of The Hobbit. Speaking at the European premiere of The Dark Knight in London last night, McKellen said that his involvement is due to be finalised in the near future. "Well, I haven't had the contract yet but it's everyone's intention that I play Gandalf so yes, I will be returning to the role," McKellen told Empire. "Although it's not until 2010, I'm very much excited about returning." McKellen also revealed that he is looking forward to working with Guillermo Del Toro, who will be directing the movie. He said: "Well, if you’re not going to have Peter Jackson, who else can handle the job? To get an international film-maker of his standing who adores the original trilogy, well I don't think you could possibly find a better replacement."
Ferrell, McKay promise 'Anchorman 2' Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, the creative team behind Anchorman, have revealed that a sequel to the 2004 newsroom comedy is on the way. Speaking to Coming Soon, Ferrell said that the popularity of the first instalment had prompted him to consider revisiting the Ron Burgundy character. He said: "We just had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made, but what's been great is that it's taken on such a life of its own. At least the feedback we get is it's beloved, so yeah, it's just one of those that feels like an evergreen thing that we can go back and do it again." Director McKay reiterated his desire to bring back the Channel 4 news team, stating that, among the "seven ideas" he was mulling over, was the possibility of setting the sequel in the '80s. He explained: "The audience would give us a lot of rope with [Burgundy] at this point, a lot of free rein. They all know it, and they all know it's going to get crazy, and that's just too tempting. It's like, 'oh my God, where can we go? What's the next level of this idea we can push to?' "We got about seven ideas we're kicking around right now, so somewhere out of all of them, it will somehow fit together."
Christian Bale Eager to Bring ‘Terminator’ Back, Batman-Style. Meanwhile An Arrest Clouds The Situat Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Even as Christian Bale basks in the gargantuan success that is “The Dark Knight,” today the actor’s standing as a leading man is suddenly a lot shakier thanks to his arrest in London on assault charges. For the latest on the arrest, check out our full report here. It couldn’t be more inopprtune timing for the star as he’s in the middle of attempting to re-start another huge franchise in the form of “Terminator Salvation.” Only days before the arrest the actor described the way this new effort would be handled on the big screen, “It will be in a similar fashion to the way that ‘Batman Begins’ revitalized and reinvented,” Bale of course is picking up the John Connor role previously occupied by Eddie Furlong, Thomas Dekker and Nick Stahl in the film. Director McG has been known to compare the “Terminator” re-launch with Chris Nolan’s Batman series, and Bale revealed to us that he hopes to do several sequels. “I see there is great potential for reinvention and revitalization of the mythology of it,” Bale said, hoping to leave the Schwarzenegger stigma far behind. “And that’s what I’m aiming to do. That’s what I feel like our responsibility is; otherwise there is no point in making it.” Bale explained that the script, written by David C. Wilson (”Supernova”) and “Terminator 3″ writers Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato, is similar to “Batman Begins” in that it brings a fresh perspective to a fatigued series, while keeping one foot firmly planted in the past. “In ‘Terminator’ we are continuing a mythology,” he insisted. “We don’t ignore a mythology, [similar to what] we did with Batman.” If you could only see one Christian Bale blockbuster today, which would you rather watch: The next “Terminator” or the next “Batman” film? Do you think this arrest will change the course of his career?
Val Kilmer Says He Created Austin Powers’ Mini-Me Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other There are a lot of reasons to celebrate Val Kilmer: “Tombstone,” “The Doors,” “The Salton Sea,” “Real Genius,” “Willow.” The list of goes on and on. This is not one of those reasons. “[I created] Mini-Me you know,” Kilmer confessed to MTV News, revealing once and for all his own role in skyrocketing Verne Troyer to fame. “[I was] the genesis of Mini-Me.” Doubt if you want. Me? I believe it. And how could I not? The story is so strange and improbable that it absolutely has to be true. “[On] ‘Island of Dr. Moreau’ I told Marlon Brando my plan to save my performance just in case there was a giant whole in the second half - I was going to strap the little man to my chest,” Kilmer insisted, completely unaware, perhaps, of how terribly strange that plan sounds even in retrospect. “And, you know, you can’t get around that visual. And then he [Brando] STOLE my little man!” Yes, yes he did. And it was bizarre. But even more bizarre is that Mike Myers apparently watched it and thought, “Now, that’s what I’ve been looking for!” “I asked Mike Myers about it myself. He said, ‘absolutely’ [it came from that movie],” Kilmer said of the idea for Dr. Evil’s pint-sized clone. “Same studio made it. And he saw a screening and said, ‘that’s really funny.’” If that’s not the weirdest origin for a character, I don’t know what is. But can you think of any I’m missing? Sound off below.
Exclusive: ‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer Wants Questions From MTV Viewers! Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Only 10 more days (and one more “Twilight” Tuesday!) until the release of “Breaking Dawn,” gang. And while most of you will be standing in massive lines at your local bookstore and participating in sure-to-be heated debates over Edward vs. Jacob, some lucky Twilighters will find themselves at the very epicenter of the fan frenzy that evening: New York’s launch of Stephenie Meyer’s book tour. A few weeks back, MTV News announced that Meyer and Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld will be joining forces for a groundbreaking series of events combining her prose, his tunes, and the fan enthusiasm for both. Today, in addition to the brand-new Nikki Reed interview that just went live over on MTV.com, we’re offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to speak directly to the “Twilight” mastermind herself. When Stephenie takes the stage for the sold-out show on August 1st, she’ll be escorted by MTV News’ “Twilight” superfan Kim Stolz, who will serve as moderator and be asking more questions than Bella after Edward stopped the van from crushing her. For the next 48 hours, the MTV Movies Blog will be accepting the questions that will be read on stage. We are your exclusive home for this opportunity, and want to use the crème de la crème of queries, so we humbly make three requests: - Come up with a really good question and post it in the comments section below. - Don’t repeat someone else’s question, as we’ll only use the name of the first poster. - Please, only one question per person. Stephenie Meyer herself will be reading over all the posted comments in the next few days, and personally selecting her favorites. Since she wants to give fans from all over the world the opportunity to have their questions answered (even if you can’t be in NYC that evening), the event will be broadcast live on iClips.net, and fans should stay tuned to MTV and its Web sites for full coverage of the event. Oh, and one other request: Stephenie can’t answer any spoiler questions about “Breaking Dawn,” or any “what if” questions that would have her commenting on what might happen in the book. So please, keep in mind that Stephenie will only select questions that will ensure a fun, memorable, but “spoiler-safe” event.

Christian Bale has denied assault allegations levied against him by own his mother and sister. Christian’s attorneys released a statement denying the claims: “Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister….Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”

Patrick Swayze: My Big C miracle Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other BRAVE PATRICK SWAYZE smiles for fans — after declaring himself a “miracle” for fighting back against pancreatic cancer. The Dirty Dancing star, 55, has responded so well to treatment that doctors said he can act again. Swayze looked healthy and beamed at onlookers at Los Angeles airport on the way to Chicago to film TV drama The Beast. He said: “I’m cookin’. I’m a miracle, dude. I don’t know why.” Swayze, who also starred in Ghost, has undergone new Cyberknife radiotherapy since being diagnosed in January. In March he was snapped looking ill and smoking as he left hospital. But devoted wife Lisa has kept him on a strict healthy diet. Fewer than one in 20 people with pancreatic cancer survives for five years — but that can rise to a quarter if it is caught early.
Sacha Baron Cohen to Produce Accidentes, Possibly Star Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Cultural humor alert: Sacha Baron Cohen will produce and possibly star in a film for Fox Atomic entitled, Accidentes, a pitch from Borat co-writer Peter Baynham. Here’s the logline: “The protag will be a lawyer of Latin descent who transforms from contingency attorney to hero of the working class when he helps an immigrant win a judgment against his wealthy employer after a landscaping mishap. He also becomes the enemy of L.A.’s power elite.” Might this do for L.A. what Borat did for Kazakhstan, Jean Girard did for France and Bruno did for “high fashion”? Do you see a pattern? The project is a high profile catch for Fox Atomic, which has been off our radar in recent months. A director was not announced. Cohen is also attached to star as Sherlock Holmes alongside Will Ferrell’s Watson for producer Judd Apatow. Bruno, which is now a wrap, opens May ‘09.
/Film British Gossip Endorsement: Tom Cruise Should Make Top Gun 2 Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Across the Atlantic, The Sun—a tabloid that our commenters loudly detest—has decided to blow on the sails of the Internet and report that Top Gun 2 is in the works. Apparently, a script-outline is out to Tom Cruise and if he approves by recreating the image above, get ready to rock like it’s 1986. As we witnessed with Crystall Skull, revisiting the ’80s can conjure spilling a bunch of pills on a bathroom floor, but I think this would be a really smart move for Cruise. If this guy was a Transformer, he’d still be a fighter jet. (Slashfilm Statements Hall of Shame). Moreover, Mission: Impossible is beat. Cruise will never play up the “team” aspect required to make that franchise work/make sense. He’s too big and too perfect a star. Valkyrie? Edwin A. Salt. Stop with the reconnaissance. Next month, his work in Tropic Thunder will be crowdsurfed across the globe and have the press blah blahing about the direction his career should go (Answer: if you listen to me, up). Until then, let us grab a milkcrate: the two highlights of his recent career are 1) his website, seriously, Neo-Tokyo, eat your heart out and 2) the scene where he talks shit and tosses around a baseball in War of the Worlds before the aliens make a thunder storm. Tom Cruise, upside down, screaming in an airplane, killin’ it or chasin’ ‘tang: that is what we (and our world of wars) want to see. I want American flags flowing under the credits. And Val Kilmer might be too old to play Diamond Dave in The Dirt, but The Iceman can be chunky. He needs to be there. Tony Scott? Sure. Bring it. Top Gun 2, we’re throwing a couple pennies in the wishing well for this… “The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor — and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”

She was 84. Getty, who suffered from advanced dementia, died at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at her Hollywood Boulevard home, said her son, Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica. "She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents," her son said. Three of its stars had already appeared in previous series: Bea Arthur in "Maude," Betty White in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and Rue McClanahan in "Mama's Family." The last character to be cast was Sophia Petrillo, the feisty 80-something mother of Arthur's character. When she auditioned, Getty was appearing on stage in Hollywood as the carping Jewish mother in Harvey Fierstein's play "Torch Song Trilogy." In her early 60s, she flunked her "Golden Girls" test twice because it was believed she didn't look old enough to play 80. "I could understand that," she told an interviewer a year after the show debuted. "I walk fast, I move fast, I talk fast." She came prepared for the third audition, however, wearing dowdy clothes and telling an NBC makeup artist, "To you this is just a job. To me it's my entire career down the toilet unless you make me look 80." The artist did, Getty got the job and won two Emmys. It culminated a long struggle for success during which Getty worked low-paying office jobs to help support her family while she tried to make it as a stage actress. "I knew I could be seduced by success in another field, so I'd say, 'Don't promote me, please,'" she recalled. She also appeared in small parts in a handful of films and TV movies during that time, including "Tootsie," "Deadly Force" and "Victims for Victims: The Theresa Saldana Story." After her success in "The Golden Girls," other roles came her way. She played Cher's mother in "Mask," Sylvester Stallone's in "Stop or My Mom Will Shoot" and Barry Manilow's in the TV film "Copacabana." Other credits included "Mannequin" and "Stuart Little" (as the voice of Grandma Estelle). "The Golden Girls," which ran from 1985 to 1992, was an immediate hit, and Sophia, who began as a minor character, soon evolved into a major one. Audiences particularly loved the verbal zingers Getty would hurl at the other three. When McClanahan's libidinous character Blanche once complained that her life was an open book, Sophia shot back, "Your life's an open blouse." Getty had gained a knack for one-liners in her late teens when she did standup comedy at a Catskills hotel. Female comedians were rare in those days, however, and she bombed. Undeterred, she continued to pursue a career in entertainment, and while her parents were encouraging, her father also insisted that she learn office skills so she would have something to fall back on. Born Estelle Scher to Polish immigrants in New York, Getty fell in love with theater when she saw a vaudeville show at age 4. She married New York businessman Arthur Gettleman (the source of her stage name) in 1947, and they had two sons, Carl and Barry. The marriage prevailed despite her long absences on the road and in "The Golden Girls." Getty was evasive about her height, acknowledging only that she was "under 5 feet and under 100 pounds." In addition to her son Carl, Getty is survived by son Barry Gettleman, of Miami; a brother, David Scher of London; and a sister, Rosilyn Howard of Las Vegas. ___ Associated Press Writer Robert Jablon contributed to this report.

Daniel says of the shoot in the Bahamas: “It was hard for me to decide whether to take it on because I had directed an ad for Dior before with Hedi [Slimane], it was one of the last major projects before he left, so it was a very tumultuous time. “The new ad was completely different from Hedi’s aesthetic. This time it was the marketing guys calling all the shots, but in the end it was still a great project. I would be working with an A-list actor and shooting in the Bahamas with a team of 70 people, so ultimately I felt it was too good to pass up.”

McG Talks Terminator Salvation’s Visual Look and Story Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other McG checks in from the set of Terminator Salvation with a new blog posting. The highlights include an explanation of the visual style of the new film and the work they have been doing with the story. Here are a few excerpts: “We have set out to achieve a completely new visual style that hasn’t been seen before. We’re shooting the film on color stock but are using a method inspired by the Oz process which was developed at Technicolor by Mike Zacharia and Bob Olson. Basically we are adding three times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know today.” “Every morning and every night Christian [Bale] and I work on the story.” … “We are committed to putting the story and character first and then supplementing that with action and visual effects. It is our intention to make a film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.” … “The entire crew takes the making of this film very seriously. I made a point of hiring key personnel that are passionate about getting this right. Everyone is well versed in the mythology.” Now it would be easy to sarcastically pick apart McG’s statements, especially the line where McG compares the movie to a “film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.” But to be honest, McG is saying everything right. He’s made his intentions clear, and the footage we’ve seen via the teaser trailer last week did not disappoint. We’re going to be at Comic Con talking to the cast and crew of the film, so check back later in the week for that.

Christian Bale and Sir Michael Caine have both supported calls for Ledger to receive a gong at next year's (09) Academy Awards for his portrayal of The Joker. And the actress believes Ledger deserves an award because his role was inspiring to other actors. She tells WENN, "In order to be a good actor you have to find a place where you are free, but it's very unusual to be absolutely free in the way that he was in this movie. "It was inspiring working with him. It was such a pleasure. "In a way I feel funny about thinking about Oscars when he isn't alive, but at the same time I'm a member of the Academy and I would vote for him."

Christian Bale Released From Police Custody Jul 22, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Christian Bale was freed from police custody tonight after being held for more than four hours by police investigating claims of assault against his mother and sister. Scotland Yard said the Batman actor, 34, was released on bail to a date in September pending further inquiries. Bale was arrested at Belgravia police station, in central London, earlier today after attending by appointment. Bale was questioned over the claim -- made by his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40. The pair filed their allegation at a police station in Hampshire, England on Monday. It was later referred to the Metropolitan Police. A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said earlier, "A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment. "He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault." The alleged incident was believed to have taken place on Sunday night at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel where Bale is staying. "The Golden Compass" Sequel Seems Unlikely Jul 22, 2008 Petes1234567 Other It's now looking less likely that audiences will get to see the planned film sequels to "The Golden Compass," which are based on Philip Pullman's children's fantasy trilogy "His Dark Materials." Sources in the film industry said that plans for a sequel to "The Golden Compass" appeared to have been put on ice following disappointing box office results in the United Stated and the fervent Christian protests. Pullman told The Independent that he had not yet been contacted by Shepperton Studios and was not aware of any imminent plans to film the sequel, "The Subtle Knife." When the first film was in production last year, he was regularly contacted by Chris Weitz, its writer and director. "I know everyone would like to see a sequel and I know I'd like to see it. When the first film was in production, I was talking to the studio and to Chris Weitz and producers quite frequently. I'm sure I would be now if the sequel was in production," he said. Weitz said yesterday he did not want to talk about the project while the studio responsible for the first film was refusing to discuss the future of the trilogy. "Compass" cost $180 million to make, but brought in only $70 million domestically. New Line Cinema considers the film a failure even though it was able to earn over $300 million internationally. The plot of the three books revolves around a fantasy world where the Reformation has never happened. This parallel universe of talking animals and witches is ruled by an oppressive Catholic institution known as the Magisterium. The challenges to religious institutions become more confrontational with every book in the trilogy, culminating with a war on heaven.
